(National
Leprosy Eradication Programme)
Nagaland is declared as the 1st
State to eliminate Leprosy in the country in 26-01-98, and we are
maintenance the prevalence rate of below 1% in 10,000 population till
Jan. 2008. National Leprosy Eradication Programme is a 100% CSS
(Centrally Sponsored Scheme). In Nagaland for better implementation of
the programme, the NLEP is divided into different zone, each zone under
the control and Supervision of one Zonal Leprosy Officer. These are the
district implementation branches of the programme.
Objectives & Goals:

To maintain the elimination target achieved
i.e to keep the P.R below 1 (one per 10,000 population)

To maintain 100% case holding of registered
cases.

To search and detect all undetected cases.

Awareness Campaign to reach all sections of
the population, with more emphasis to the unprivileged group.

To increase voluntary reporting by creating
awareness of the disease, especially in the migratory population.

To address the issue of stigma associated with
the disease.
-
Anti Leprosy drug to be more available to all
patient free of cost.
-
To impart training to all category of district
staff s under C.M.O, NGO’s, ASHA’s and AWW.
